Application Placement

Depending upon each individual sermon, application can be placed strategically at two primary places. It can be restricted to an extended section in the conclusion of the sermon, immediately before a call for action. Application also can be made by way of key sentences and discussions throughout the message. Within the body of the sermon, strategic links can be made between truths that have been explained and their relevance to the lives of listeners. Lloyd-Jones says:

It is important that you should have been applying what you have been saying as you go along. There are many ways of doing this. You can close by asking questions and answering them or in various other ways; but you must apply the message as you go along.18
