“Fuck, I missed you,” I murmur against her lips, lacing my fingers into her hair. The only thing I do is groan when I taste the watermelon bubblegum flavor on her tongue. That goddamn gum that I’ve been craving for over a week now. Especially after our text last night, I couldn’t wait to get to the rink today, not only to catch up with my team but because I knew she’d be here. “Maybe it’s just the Hubba Bubba. I think I might be developing an addiction. This is very serious.”

“You’ve only been gone a week.” She giggles as she loops her arm around my neck, standing on her tiptoes. “And I’m pretty sure you’re just addicted to giving me orgasms… not the gum, but whatever you say, Romeo.”

“A week too fucking long.”

My lips move over hers, tasting, teasing, tracing the seam of her lips with my tongue, desperate to dip inside her mouth.

This is reckless, kissing her here right now, in the closet of the practice facility. I know better—I just couldn’t wait another second to touch her. My hands physically ached to touch her.

And the last hour has been the worst form of torture… being so close to her yet not able to act on my desire for her.

“We have to go back out there before someone realizes we’re both gone,” she says but makes no move to slide out of my embrace. If anything, her grip on my neck tightens.

“Yeah, we do.”

My gaze holds hers, neither of us moving, only breathing each other in.

“Right now. We should do that right now.”

“Yep.”

Then suddenly, her lips are on mine again, a soft moan escaping as she launches herself into my arms, her legs wrapping around my waist. My hands fist in her hair as her tongue strokes inside my mouth, and together, we’re lost.

The rest of everything fades out, and it’s only this feeling.

We’re making out in a closet like we’re teenagers—obviously, we have a thing for them—yet, the last thing I want to do is stop. Even though we should. Even though anyone could realize that we’re both missing and come looking to find me with my coach’s daughter, my team’s intern, in the most compromising way possible.

It wouldn’t just be my reputation on the line; it would be Caroline’s too, which is why I tear my lips from hers and carefully set her back down on her feet as much as I really don’t fucking want to.

“Tonight,” I promise, dropping my lips to hers once more in a quick kiss. “I’ll pick you up.”

She nods, giving me the sweetest fucking smile. “You go out first, and then I’ll come out in a couple of minutes?”

“Yep. I’ll go and distract Laura.”

“My Romeo,” she quips, a teasing look in her eyes. Those fucking eyes could bring me to my knees if it’s what she wanted.

I open the door and quickly slip out, shutting it behind me. When I turn the corner to the hallway, I see Wren leaning against the wall next to the water fountain, his arms crossed and a knowing smirk on his lips.
