As you can see from the timeline, there were numerous warnings for the inhabitants of New Orleans. Yet, most of the warnings fell on deaf ears.

Why?

Most of the people who remained behind had heard these types of warnings many times before and then nothing had ever happened – false alarms. Even when flooding occurred in previous hurricanes, the people were always able to tough it out.

Why would Hurricane Katrina be any different, the people thought, and if worse came to worst, the government would bail them out, right?

This attitude caused hundreds of people to die.
