MEETS OR EXCEEDS

Ms. Paragon has done an excellent job managing the overall security of the enterprise. She has enhanced safety precautions at all access points, including employee entrances, the front visitors lobby, and loading docks.

Working with the warehouse manager, she has upgraded the existing alarm and motion detection system. In conjunction with the MIS department, she has initiated tracking of valuable assets tagged with RF identifiers; security officers are able to see warnings any time a tag is taken out of the warehouse or other exit from the office complex.

Ms. Paragon has greatly enhanced training for members of the security staff to allow them to assist in the delivery of first aid or to provide the first response to medical emergencies.

The security department received top marks from the city fire inspector six months ago in an annual assessment. Members of the department regularly check the operation of fire and smoke alarms, including fire drills conducted in cooperation with local fire departments.

Ms. Paragon has demonstrated a high degree of cooperation with loss prevention specialists from the company's insurance carrier in search of ways to reduce fire and water damage hazards and eliminate pilferage.

Working with the training department, she has set up classes on fire and hazardous chemical preparedness, dealing with suspicious packages and unknown visitors, and working with local police and fire departments. Classes have been extended to members of the security department as well as receptionists, mailroom personnel, and drivers of company vehicles.

Ms. Paragon has provided valuable services to the human resources staff in assisting with the background checks conducted on security staff, employees in sensitive areas including those working on government research projects, and workers in the on-site child care facility.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Ms. Goodenough needs to greatly improve her ability to manage the overall security of the enterprise. Employees have expressed concern about personal safety and the security of company property; she is directed to present a report to the department of office services within 15 days suggesting security enhancements at all access points, including employee entrances, the front visitors lobby, and loading docks.

At her previous evaluation, Ms. Goodenough was asked to work with the warehouse manager to upgrade the existing alarm and motion detection systems. As of this date, this assignment has not been accomplished; she is directed to meet with the warehouse manager and the director of office services within 30 days to deliver plans to deal with this problem.

Ms. Goodenough needs to improve training for members of the security staff to allow them to assist in the delivery of first aid or to provide the first response to medical emergencies. As of this date, only one member of the security staff has received certification in first aid.

The city fire inspector gave the company an “adequate” rating in his most recent assessment six weeks ago; our insurance carrier demands that all substandard or problematic areas be brought up to code within 90 days. Ms. Goodenough is directed to meet with the legal department within 10 days to advise on the status of remediation.
