Ideally, we want your audience to like you and welcome you even before you arrive, so it is a great idea to circulate an introduction amongst potential attendees before the event and before it is read out by your sponsor or the department or unit manager.

Usefully there are just three things you need to know and decide before you make any presentation, and these are detailed in the following exercise.

No one else will see your notes unless you choose to share them, or if you are working through this in a team in which case you should all be able to agree, there is no such as thing as a bad or weird note, just notes. You never know when an idea will strike you and how you might join the dots later.

Write anything, accuracy, spelling and grammar are not important, this is all about capturing your initial thoughts, this is not about copywriting or nailing it in one shot. These things can take a little time to come together.
