Eight

Sinner. Whore. Jezebel.

The names continue to roll through my head as I observe her movements. It's been a week since I last purified a soul, leaving me some time to plan how I'll obtain my newest sinner.

For the past few months, I've followed her. Watched her patterns, and took notes on how she reacted in public. I would only have one chance to take her, and I had to make it count.

I claimed number thirteen last week, and it was a great joy watching her take her last breath. Watching another sinner leave this earth left me with an euphoric feeling that I can only get by ridding the world of these whores.

Speaking of whores, I glance back at Angela, as she reaches for her wallet to pay for her coffee. She doesn’t even notice anything around her as she does this simple task. I smile at her knowing I found her weak spot, she gets distracted easily and that will be used to my advantage.

I normally don’t leave a note for my prey to find, but this time is different. This is more personal since she was supposed to be mine and mine only. She was supposed to be the one to help me. To make me whole. But no, she had to go and ruin that plan. Had to dirty her body. Had to become the one thing that this world doesn’t need.

I reach for my coffee and smile gently at her when she spots me beside her. A shy smile graces her lips as she turns to leave, but instead, turns again and walks to the bathroom.

I know this is my chance.

Making my way to her car, I use extreme caution to avoid being seen. This is why I don’t normally leave notes. Too many chances to be discovered. But I need her to know that I'm here and I'm watching. And that, more importantly, that her time is almost up.
