Distance: 22.0 miles (shorter run possible)

Difficulty: Class I–II (beginner)

Craft: Canoes, kayaks

Approximate paddling time: 4 to 6 hours

Flows: 400 to 1,200 cfs

Season: May through June

Put-in: Bel Aire Wildlife Area at the confluence

Takeout: Meeker

Shuttle: Use County Road 8, which closely parallels the river, for both the put-in and takeout. The put-in is located at the confluence of the North and South Forks at the well-marked Bel Aire State Wildlife Area, just below the hamlet of Buford.

To reach the takeout, head downstream on CR 8 into the town of Meeker. Look for signs for the White River Museum; turn left (south) off the main drag. Just upstream of the County Road 4 bridge is the museum; this is the takeout.

Additional information: The marked fishing access just upstream of the Sombrero Horse Camp can be used as a midpoint access point to shorten the length of this run.
