DIRECTIONS TO TAKEOUT

The Zion National Park entrance is in Springdale. The lowest takeout option is near the bridge at South Campground, near the visitor center. This is also where you’ll leave a vehicle if taking out upstream, because no parking areas exist along the shuttle route. Parking at the visitor center fills up almost immediately after the park opens in the morning.

DIRECTIONS TO PUT-IN

At the same time you acquire your backcountry permit to float the river, inquire about a special parking permit that will allow you to park at the Temple lot. This is necessary after about mid-March, when the Floor of the Valley Road closes to public vehicles. Park at the Temple lot and use the shuttle when your run is complete to retrieve your vehicle. If you brought your playboat (or any boat shorter than the width of the bus), according to a ranger you could strap it to the front of the bus, where the bikes go, preventing you from having to set shuttle at all. Of course, packrafts and other inflatables may be simply carried on board.
