CHAPTER 16

I made it known I was still furious when we got home, so Sebastian shut himself in his office, like a fucking coward, after settling Lilly in her room.

This had been a pretty exciting day for her. She had lots of junk food, petted ponies, went on rides with her psychotic father, and met her grandparents. She seemed to have developed a liking for her grandfather, and I was glad for that. He said she’d behaved like a lady.

After that long, eventful day, she’d be asleep for a while. Hopefully not too much so she’d sleep at night. I planned to wake her up for dinner.

I went up to my bedroom to change into something more comfortable. Back at the fair, someone shoved their way to the front of the crowd, hitting me on the side and causing me to trip and fall onto the sharp end of a wooden chair. Now the pain was real, and I could barely move without triggering an unholy throbbing. I’d probably bruised several ribs.

I could barely lift my arms to take off my t-shirt. Getting the tight jeans down my legs would also be an issue. The pain blinded me for a moment. I needed help.

I had calmed down enough by then to deal with him. Perhaps that sleazy guy at the stall had been too forward and I should have walked away the first time he said something untoward. Sebastian was jealous, he’d admitted it himself, and I did nothing to nip that situation in the bud.

My husband might be sweet at times, sexy as hell, but when he got angry, his brain stopped functioning.

Luckily, he showed up right when I needed him so he could make himself useful.

“Someone pushed me at the fair and I tripped and fell against a chair,” I said, feeling a little silly that I couldn’t undress myself.

“Who hurt you?” he asked, as if already plotting a horrible revenge.

“How should I know? There were a bunch of people there, watching you make a fool of yourself. I think I bruised my ribs.” I bit my bottom lip and winced when a sharp stab of pain hit me.

His face went pale and he cursed loudly under his breath.

“I’m sorry you got hurt, princess. As I said, I’ll be gentle. Just tell me what to do,” he said, coming behind me.

“Hold my arm out a bit and slide my sleeve off it.”

He did as I asked, moving at a snail’s pace, but even then, the pain became unbearable in moments, and I had to hold my breath. All of my anger slipped away when his hands touched my skin. I shouldn’t feel so aroused, but I couldn’t control my instincts when he was around.

At last, the shirt was off, which left me in jeans and a lacy black bra.

“That guy wasn’t wrong, princess. You have an amazing body. It drives me nuts when other fuckers are looking at your perfect ass,” he whispered, leaning down to gently kiss my neck.
