“I love yoga days,” Jackson said three days later as Annabelle approached where he stood outside of The Lone Bean.

He held out a cup. Made exactly right, almost as if he’d paid attention that first day or had asked about it. His hot gaze swept over her and she felt her cheeks flush.

She was more aware of her body over the past three days than she had been in her entire life. Not just because of the way Jackson looked at her whenever they were together—skirts or yoga pants—but because of sore muscles that had never been sore before and parts of her that tingled that had never tingled before.

She didn’t do yoga every morning, but when he watched her walking toward him, looking as if he was starving and she was a large pizza with everything on it, she wanted to wear those pants every day. The last two mornings she’d been wearing her typical skirts, on her way to meet with a couple of her students who were running a summer literacy program.

She took the cup from him, her hand sliding across his completely on purpose.

It had been two nights since the car and she wanted more. A lot more. Right now.

She’d seen him and talked to him. He’d met her outside the coffee shop the morning after he’d left her at her car at Pitchers, sated and grinning. And now it had already become a habit to find him standing on the sidewalk with two cups when she got there each morning.

She hadn’t really stopped grinning since.

They’d seen each other somewhat regularly but it wasn’t enough. Which should bother her. She couldn’t get attached to him. This was temporary. This was for the benefit of other people in town. They were helping each other out. Friends.

But that word felt weird. They were friends? How had that happened? Surely not. They’d had sex and coffee. That wasn’t any kind of relationship at all.

Still, when she saw him leaning against the coffee shop with her coffee, she felt her heart flip a little.

He was so good-looking for one thing. He was dressed in a pair of faded blue jeans that looked soft from repeated washings and molded to his body—the muscular thighs and tight ass and impressive other things—as if he’d been wearing them for years. He wore work boots and a dark-blue T-shirt stretched over his wide, hard chest. She knew he’d just come from the ranch. That was also tempting. She didn’t typically go for guys who worked with their hands, who sweated and got dirty, but she wanted to run her hands over his shoulders, abs…lower.

She was horny.

That had to be it.

Looking at his hand curled around the paper cup made her think about that hand on her breast, between her legs, holding the back of her head as he kissed her.

Watching him drink from the cup made her think about his lips on hers, on her breast, between her legs and the dirty things he said.
