I couldn’t believe he left me hanging like that. I could feel his hard on through his jeans, so I knew he wanted me, too. Why did he stop? I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

We walked in silence to a nearby restaurant that had become one of our favorites. It was close to my apartment and also had great take out we would have delivered if we didn't feel like leaving the building.

I had been worried the conversation with the two men would end with someone getting punched, so I was relieved it was fairly drama free. I knew I was asking a lot of them. Both men had strong personalities and were territorial. This probably wasn’t going to be easy and one of them was going to get hurt in the end more than likely.

I started to have doubts about what I was doing. Who was I to think I could string along two men? That wasn’t like me at all. It wasn’t fair to them, either. Maybe they would both tell me to fuck off and I would be all alone.

The selfish part of me wasn’t ready to give both up yet. I guess technically I had already given Nick up, but that was more because of distance than anything. Here we were, actually living in the same town, so maybe this was our chance. I loved how Nick made me feel…so carefree. He made me realize there was more to life than work and it was ok to ask for what I want, even in the bedroom.

Then there was Neil. Neil was refined and a force to be reckoned with. He had a commanding presence, making everyone turn his way when he walked into a room. He appreciated my career and the time I spent on it. Hell, he even made work fun and sexy. He made me feel safe and secure without being overbearing.

How was I going to pick one?

We kept the conversation at lunch casual, talking about work for the most part. He mentioned spending all of Saturday at the office and I felt bad for not doing any work that weekend. I made a vow to work the rest of the afternoon to get caught up.

Neil had given the waiter his card to pay our bill before reaching for my hand. “Erika, I have my answer already.” He looked across the table at me, running his thumb across the back of my knuckles.

“Oh?” I asked, surprised he had reached a decision already.

“I’ll keep seeing you even if you’re seeing Nick, too. I’m convinced I’m the better man for you and I welcome the challenge of showing you why you belong with me.”

“You do, huh?” His cockiness was just one of the many reasons I liked him.

“Yes,” he nodded. “In a matter of time, you will forget what’s-his-name and will be calling out my name every night.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re pretty sure of yourself.”

The waiter came back so Neil could sign the receipt.
