Pushing back the covers, Dinah slid her legs around and eased out of the bed headed straight for the shower. Turning the water on as hot as she could stand it, she stood under the scorching spray. Sulking in a stream of sorrow, her tears flowed in unison with the water. Dinah didn’t bother adjusting the heat feeling nothing could hurt her any more than the grief she was experiencing. She was not in the mood to deal with drama another day. Her heart ached as if it was being pulled from her chest. It didn’t matter to her how long Paul had been gone. The memories of that horrible day replayed in her mind as if the shooting had just happened. She didn’t know how much more she could take. The bathroom filled with steam in response to the intense heat from the water.

Dinah remained under the water until the hot water tank exhausted its contents causing the water to turn cold. Toweling off, she returned to her bedroom and dressed in a warmup suit. She desperately needed a distraction one she hoped her daily dose of TV cooking shows would provide.
