Comparing the numerical (Fig. 9) with the corresponding experimental results (Fig. 7) shows that the agreement is good. Although there are differences in the extend of areas with pressure losses and the level of pressure losses, the change of the flow with increasing circulation is well simulated by TAU. In Table 1 the mean total pressure at the AIP and the DC60 descriptor as obtained by experiment and simulation are compared. The mean total pressure shows the same behaviour for both cases, while DC60 values are smaller in the experiments than in the simulation when VGs are present.Table 1Comparison of numerical results and experimental results (in brackets) regarding mean total pressure loss at the AIP and distortion descriptor DC60
