The investigation into Neil's death had been resolved with Anna being cleared. Jo had been spending time with Grant, getting to know him and she had even gone as far as telling Grant that even though he would never be her dad, he was her father and she did accept him. Anna was thrilled that Jo had been spending more time with Grant and that Jo now felt that she has a family, one that included Lisa as more than just her sister-in-law.

Lisa had been in constant contact with Vicky as their plan for the demise of Rita was being put into action. All they were waiting for now was for Rita to make a mistake and that fateful day came. Rita went on the air with a report that said Lisa’s morals were questionable and that she didn't deserve to have the title of captain. At first, she was just reporting the 'facts' that Vicky had told her. They weren't facts, but Rita didn't know this. Then the day came when she "outed" Lisa. Rita didn't know that Lisa, Jo, Anna, Grant, Chris and Vicky were waiting in the studio.

"Lisa Spencer, the captain of our fire department, is involved in an incestuous lesbian affair. This has been going on for quite some time. Do we really want this type of a person as a role model for our children?" Rita asked.

"Yes, we do," Jo answered, surprising Rita as she walked into the line of the camera.

"Well, Jo, this isn't anything against you."

"It most certainly is. You are trying to destroy my girlfriend because your ex lover wanted her over you. She didn't want him and he tried to kill both Lisa and me. There is no incest because Lisa isn't my sister, she is the widow of my half- brother. As for the facts that you have that say Lisa got the title of captain unfairly, you better do your homework. They aren't facts...they are lies. Vicky is my best friend. She, along with Chris and Lisa, have played you for a fool. You think you are better than anyone else, but you're not."

Rita lost her cool and went after Jo. That was what Jo has been waiting for. With one punch she put Rita down the same way she did with Larry that night so long ago.

"Lisa is a bitch and so are you, Joanna," Rita spat, as she cowered away from Jo.

"Lisa may be a bitch, but she is my bitch, just like I'm her bitch. You're jealous that neither one of us want the likes of you," Jo growled through clenched teeth.

The ratings for the news that night were higher than they had ever been. The station offered Jo the job Rita had when it was discovered that Jo has a background in reporting. Jo accepted the job.

"One daughter is a firefighter and one is a reporter. I couldn't be prouder," Anna said smiling.

"We have two daughters that make us so proud," Grant agreed.

"Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but I will only be your daughter-in-law.
