Everyone except Karl was in attendance for the Friday evening meeting. A cold front was making its way across Louisiana causing major rain storms through the area. Xander was holding the meeting under his carport as he cooked a large pot of chili for supper.

“Is Karl still offshore?” Trey asked when he noticed Karl’s absence.

“Yes, he’ll be back next week. I was going to wait until he returned to have a meeting, but something has come up.”

“Is there anything wrong?” Eric asked as he sat on one of the metal folding chairs, causing it to bow slightly from his massive frame.

“Not wrong, something new for sure. Good news actually,” Xander answered.

“Someone contacted Tyra through her shadow blog and said they placed a million dollars into an offshore account for us…” Xander was going to give more information but was interrupted.

“A million dollars? That’s a lot of money. Don’t you think it’s a trap?” asked Eric.

“Let me finish, and I’ll explain what’s been done. Of course, we thought of it being a trap. That’s why I couldn’t tell you all before now. Tyra used her contacts to move the money around and cash it in for bitcoins…”

“What in the fuck is a bitcoin?” Eric interrupted once again.

“It’s a form of online money. Anyway, the transaction fee was ten percent, but we now have a lot of money for operating expenses. Our first order of business is to hire Jimmy a really good legal team. Then we’ll send his mother fifty thousand dollars to get away for a while if she chooses; she can pay for a stay in Dallas to be closer to Jimmy.

“We’ll then seek to purchase military-grade weapons and equipment. If someone believes in our cause enough to fork over a million dollars, we’ll damn sure make good use of it. I think we can also afford to give each person on the team fifty thousand dollars.”

“Maybe it should be each person who has actually put their ass on the line. Karl hasn’t really done anything but attend meetings and train,” Eric rudely said.

“Damn dude, are you on your rag tonight?” Trey questioned with an annoyed look on his face.

“What do you mean by that Trey?” Eric shot back with a burly tone.

“You’re being an ass. Everyone in this group is a member of the team. We all knew Karl had to work for our last mission. If I remember correctly, I only installed a door jamb during that mission. What did you do? Oh, that’s right; you also installed a door jamb, then ran your fat ass back to the van. Lighten the hell up and allow Xander to finish talking.” Everyone’s eyes were on Trey as he tore into Eric for being so disrespectful towards Xander.

“Sorry,” Eric’s tone changed completely from the beginning.

“As I was going to say, we will place a law firm out of Dallas on a hundred thousand dollar retainer using a contact I have near there. I will instruct the law firm to use a defense of mental illness based on his tours overseas and his PTSD.
