Jörg Haider died in an automobile accident in 2008, but his legacy lives on. In the latest elections of 15 October 2017, his Freedom Party received 26 per cent of the vote and was able to form a coalition with the People’s Party. Fortunately, in the previous year the liberal Alexander van der Bellen won the Austrian presidential election, if only by a small margin. That was one of the good pieces of news in 2016. There were not many of those: 2016 was also the year of Brexit and Donald Trump. What has happened to the world? What is right or wrong? What good or bad? Who decides?
