“Three fucking days and still nothing,” Lelantos mumbles from his computer.

We’re in his bedroom, which is an understatement for the massive area. One wall has floor-to-ceiling windows, and the other is filled with computer screens. His bed is enormous, yet it barely takes up any space.

I currently sit at a desk with a computer Lelantos set up for me. My two screens play through surveillance of the industrial district while I try to spot our target.

It was a bust attempting to trace the number on Amelia’s phone. The guy she worked with no doubt heard of Amelia’s capture and immediately disposed of his device. It left us with only one other option.

Lelantos hacked into Zeus’ surveillance system, and we are currently checking the feeds coinciding with the time and date a text was sent from Amelia’s phone. She described a blond-haired girl wearing blue jeans and a pink top to the mystery man, and our guess is she is his latest victim.

The problem is, there are over four hundred cameras. The time of the message is just after one pm, which narrows our window, but we still need to check around eight hours of footage on each camera. So far, we’ve spent three days and still found nothing of value.

“We’ve searched seventy-eight feeds. We are getting closer,” I shoot back, attempting to sound upbeat.

One image of her is all we need, and then we can track her through the other cameras. Just one glimpse, and she will lead us to the monster.

“I need a fucking break,” Lelantos huffs, standing from his desk and heading over to his sitting area.

That’s right. His bedroom is so huge that it has a sitting area with a corner couch and TV. I’ve seen luxury apartments smaller, and there’s still a whole house beneath us. I don’t understand the need for so much space when only three people live here.

Lelantos flops down on the cream leather, his head falling back. I could do with a break myself, but every minute I spend watching is another minute closer to finding her.

“Little Muse, you haven’t stopped for nearly six hours. Take a break.”

“There must be a quicker way of doing this,” I state as I pause the feed and head over to the sofa.

“We’ve been through this. Without a picture to run through facial recognition software, there is no automatic solution. And I refuse to ask our men to help. Would you trust them to check the feeds properly?”

“You’re right, but like you said, it’s been three days. That sick fuck could be snatching up victims as we speak.”

I ball my hands into fists at the thought. This guy will wish for a swift death, and he will be shit out of luck. I plan on drawing it out, witnessing as he crumbles before me. Even when he begs for death, I will withhold it.

“Ready to answer my question yet?” Lelantos asks with a grin, and I roll my eyes.

“Nope.”

He is referencing the one he asked me in the library.
