Chapter Fourteen
Sali
"Sali." Maggie gasped out my name when she came, her body lifting from the bed in a sensual arch. Muscles rippled in her abs as her body shook violently around my mouth. I kept her legs parted wide while I finished her off, ending my tongue lashing with a round of soft kisses. Her body calmed down and she melted into the sheets, releasing my hair to grasp a pillow, pulling it against her flushed face.
"So sexy, babe," I whispered as I crawled up her body, kissing a trail between her breasts to her lips. She cupped my face, kissing me fiercely as I shifted to straddle her thigh. Immediately, she pressed her leg up to meet my middle and we rocked together.
Her hands tickled down my body, gripping my rear almost as aggressively as she kissed me. Our mood melted from lusty to sensual in a heartbeat.
To the private space where no one else existed except the two of us...
"I love you, Mags," I confessed breathlessly against her shoulder. My arms trembled as I hugged her and she held me, caressing the full length of my back. She sniffled softly, kissing my ear.
"I love you, too, baby."
I leaned back, blinking away my tears to see hers sliding gently down her cheeks. She smiled at me when I brushed them away. We kissed again, her lips salted with tears, and she urged me to roll to the side. Tangled together, comfort swallowed me in safety, swaddling me in the deepest contentment found only in her arms. Gentle kisses met my eyelids and I smiled.
We didn't speak for ages that night, though neither of us slept. Our melded movements kept us close together, until the heat of the early morning sun poked through the blinds. Faint tweets of spring birds both annoyed me and settled my nerves.
After a quick shower, I dug out my rattiest pair of jeans, tugging them on as my knee poked through the frayed bits. I crouched, tying on my usual worn out black and white sneakers. Maggie's heeled boots appeared beside me and I looked up at her as she pulled her hair into a low ponytail. Her gun, once again strapped to her hip, brought back both memories and fear. As I stood, she lowered her arms and turned to me when I placed my hand on her chest right above the tiny scar that remained from where the first shot hit her last September.
"Nice shirt." She smirked, tugging at the hem of my Nirvana T-shirt, the yellow smiley face a perfect contrast to our mood.
"Retro is in, babe."
"I know. I don't like that hoodie." She fumbled with my zipper, tugging it up between the raggedy hem of the jacket. The army-green color clashed with my shirt, but the forced holes I tore into the knitted cuffs welcomed my thumbs in a familiar grip.
"Why not? It's old. I found it crunched in the bottom of the closet."
"I stuffed it there." She continued to fiddle with my jacket while I pressed my hands against her stomach, just above her belt.
