Inside Magic Mountain’s shop is a welder, on the left, working on a pair of fighting rams designed to pull back and butt their heads together as the River Ride’s keelboats pass by this gag. Three craftsmen are modeling a prop, which is probably for the same attraction. From local newspaper accounts, Winfield Hubbard expected to build 15 or 18 full-sized dinosaurs of various species for the dark ride this building was designed for. (Photograph by Stanley W. This is a great photograph showing the Magic Mountain Railroad and a portion of the River Ride attraction with a re-creation of a period building from the 1800s. The following is an excerpt from the Rocky Mountain News on August 2, 1959: “Few people know that Winfield Hubbard is responsible for the ‘magic’ of Magic Mountain. But thousands are viewing his work at the park with amazement and amusement. Last Sunday 14,000 people toured Magic Mountain.” (Courtesy of Ron and Stephen Peck.)
