Chapter 10

"There's nobody in the main chamber at the moment, and it's after dark now - we don't get so many visitors at night so it's probably a good time to make the dungeon briefly inaccessible while we make the changes. We're not doing anything to the bedroom so I'll just leave Jessica and Leila where they are," Luca said, and without waiting for Posey to agree, he used his overseer abilities to make an impenetrable barrier on the main entrance of the dungeon, similar to the one that was always on the exit, so it could only be used from the inside. He then materialized in the middle of the empty main chamber - the wolves wouldn't spawn for him unless he wanted them to.

Posey appeared a second behind him, and decided to fly freely around the cavernous space, gleefully twirling and looping in the air, spreading arcs of pink, glittery light in the dimness.

Luca realized she didn't get to stretch her wings like this very often, as normally when she got to use her true form it was only in the much smaller bedroom, where there was no room to fly around. He made a note of this, thinking he might soon have more reasons to send her out into the outside world again - though he wasn't sure what they'd be until the mining gave him some results and a plan.

"So, the first big change is, I want to split the main floor in two, with a long pool of toxic water running across the middle. It needs to be too wide for even the most agile adventurers to jump across. There will be a moving platform that goes from left to right across the poisoned pool, that they'll have to jump to to cross it, and I want that platform to only be big enough for one person at a time to use. I want the secret door to the bedroom to be on the opposite side of the pool to the entrance, so people have to get across to examine it."

"Oooh, I see, so they have a hazard like that limiting where they can go while they fight the wolves!"

"Yes, I want the six wolves to spawn on the entry side of the pool as soon as someone comes in, so they'll have to engage with them in the smaller area or manage to jump across on the platform while the wolves are still active. The wolves can of course just transport themselves to the other side in their wisp forms, so their movement won't be affected by adding the pool, but it also means that people who use ranged weapons won't be able to get early hits on them as easily, because their initial spawn points will all be close to where they come in, rather than spread all around the room."

Posey nodded along as he described how he envisaged the wolves becoming a more difficult fight.
