The rogues did not bother going to North or South America until Colonial America times, because they heard reports that the population was rather low and sparse. For the Order, that was not a problem; they don’t need to feed. For rogues, they would certainly struggle if they had to go weeks without feeding; eventually, they would shrivel up and look like old, decrepit monsters. Rogues preferred the population density of the European continent. But during the Order’s sojourn in North America, a very curious thing happened.

North and South America never got the concerted attention of the rest of civilization. There were many theories offered to explain it, but the best one was called the West Divide. It held that people preferred the established infrastructure of Europe, even though it was prone to being wiped out. But that held true for the whole world.

Some of the missionaries of the Collective were killed by Native Americans or even wild animals. While not confirmed, one or more may have even abandoned the Collective and/or chosen to eat normal foods, eventually dying. Their reasons, if this indeed ever happened, were their own.

The Native Americans did not always greet the Order warmly when they encountered them. Therefore, the Order got in the habit of bringing gifts as an offer of friendship. As they mingled with tribes from the south and worked their way up, they learned the languages rather quickly, in a little over two weeks.

At some point, they met one tribe that was quite unlike any other. For one, it spoke a much different language, though they spoke the more common dialect of the area the Order had already visited. And second, there was a very tall young man who was clearly not a Native American; the native’s average height was 5'5”. His name was also unlike the others. The Natives Americans were dark skinned and had names like Wapocha, Sachani, Mapaho, Napi, and Asanto. He, however, was light skinned, and his name was Rubidicus; he was 6'5”. Through oral traditions, the Natives recalled the story of how his race came to live among them.
