I woke with Prince in Nickel’s glamour lurking over me, wearing an open robe and a pair of black silk bottoms. He had a small dragon tattoo along the line of his waistband. Was that Nickel’s or Prince’s? Either way, his body was a work of art.

“Twelve hours unconscious, and you’re up to driving this car? Why did I listen to you? When your eyes bleed, you become completely irrational. This is a job, Love. If you can’t do it, you have to tell me.” His voice was a low growl that sent shivers down my spine.

I pushed him away from me and sat up. I’d sat down on the bed to take off my shoes and lost twelve hours? Who had time for that? I rubbed my forehead, frowning. Was I really dying? That would be inconvenient. We had to get Lauren back and kill my clone. Then I could die. Or go back to my happy, quiet life. We were all going to die.

Don’t you have boy band stuff to do?” Last night, while I was waiting on the dock shivering and looking helpless, while the aggressive girl was telling me that her dance competition with her boyfriend was going to be way better than mine, because apparently I had to do a dance with Nickel as part of this whole thing, I’d done a quick mind-sweep of the ship and found the twisted brain of Pretzel before he’d blocked me out, but not before he fished in my head like he knew what he was doing.

I had to tell Prince about it, because no way Lauren’s kidnapper was on the cruise because he appreciated boy bands. Too bad I’d passed out first. We had to find out what Miyaki wanted with this boat, whether they were bringing drugs into Underland or something else. It’s like Pretzel was waiting for me when I’d tapped his mind and his return assault had been intense. If Teddy hadn’t been pouring strength and healing into me, I wouldn’t have made it to the room. I wouldn’t have been able to keep Pretzel out of my head before he knew everything about me, before he owned my mind.

I blinked blearily at Teddy while panic and horror became too much. Also, I had to compete? It was the cherry on the impossible pie. I looked around the small room with one tiny, cramped bed. I’d actually slept in the corset? No way. I’d really been out cold unconscious, and he’d probably been healing me the whole time, but minds were delicate things. Pretzel would have owned my mind. Nope. I couldn’t think about that or I’d start freaking out. No time for that or cheese puffs. I should have had Angelica pack cheese puffs, but it was not her thing, and I didn’t need a tell.

He grabbed my arm. “Who did you mind-hack? How long? I need details.
