Will's away until Friday, in York on business, so I take the opportunity to read my project management books, do some much needed exercise, and get on with his flat renovation.

Not only do I get multiple contractors to come and have a look, I also make some key design decisions. I successfully select the kitchen, bathroom, and floorings throughout. The only thing I'm not sure about are the tiles and wall colors, and other details like lighting schemes. These will come later, after I know what it's looking like budget wise.

I even get round to sorting the boxes of my stuff sitting in the corner. I donate my duvet, pillows, and two large bags of clothes to charity, throw out another big bag full of junk, and spread the rest of my stuff around the flat.

I hang up my fairy lights, put my throw and cushions on the sofa, unload my kitchen stuff into cupboards, and dot my photo frames around the limited available surfaces.

One of them contains a picture of me and Patrick. In fact, he gave me the frame with the photo in it. I remove the photo and scroll through my phone to find a nice one of Will and me. I settle on one Sophie took when we were at the villa in France, then walk to a printing shop.

I place the picture on the little table by the front door where Will puts his keys; he'll see it as soon as he returns. Every time I catch sight of it, it makes me smile. We look good together, even if I do say so myself.

When I'm finished, all that's left is a box of textbooks. I'm not sure what to do with them, so I leave them where they are.

By Friday evening, as I sit on the sofa reading Persuasion—because, despite my proclamations of her greatness, I've never actually read any Austen, and Pride and Prejudice is too obvious a selection—I realize that I have, in fact, moved in, even though I told Will I'd only be staying for a while. Although, I guess it's only until the renovation starts. That'll be a good time to find a place of my own.
