We stop in front of Monroe Motors, which is where Morgan bought her first motorcycle and has a friend that works in the service department. We separate as we enter because of the crowd of motorcycles on display and narrow passages between them. There are several very attractive motorcycles by Triumph and Moto Guzzi on display as well as a few Ducati. They have a very interesting collection, ranging from entry-level and low-power all the way up to a beast of a bike by Ducati called the Diavel. It's mostly engine and looks either incredibly exciting or life threatening, depending on the angle.

Morgan walks up next to me and says, "If you get that I'm not riding with you. It looks uncomfortable for the passenger. I'm not even sure I could." She gets down low to check out the engine.

As she stands up, there's a booming voice from the left, near the back of the showroom. "Hey, punk! Hands off the merchandise."

Morgan spins and walks toward the towering bull of a man who yelled. She looks incredibly serious, but there's a smirk trying to break free from the corner of her mouth. Getting a little too close to the guy, who I assume is her friend, she points a finger into his chest hard and he shrinks back a bit as she says, "Who you calling punk, punk!"

He laughs and grabs her in a bear-hug lifting her off her feet. I walk over slowly and stand a few feet behind them as they continue to go through some sort of greeting ritual. They've known each other since high school, so I'm sure they have a few inside rituals.

Morgan turns to me, grabs my arm, and pulls me closer. "Jeff, this is Gavin. Gav, this is Jeff. He's one of my oldest friends. And, according to his name tag, the manager of the service department."

He holds out a hand roughly the size of a spiral cut ham, smiles, and says, "Gavin, pleasure to meet you. Any friend of Morgan's is a friend of mine."

He takes my hand into his, but squeezes just enough to greet. A lot of big guys will crush your hand to intimidate you. While he's a giant of a man, above six feet tall and built like a professional rugby player, all thighs and shoulders, he exudes nothing but friendliness.

I shake his hand and reply, "Good to meet you. Morgan told me she had a friend who worked here and since I'm thinking about getting a bike we came over."

He smiles ear to ear and asks, "You ever ride?"

"I rode here and there. Had a crotch rocket in high school for a year."

"Well, that's good to hear. So what are you looking for? I'm not in sales, but I can hook you up with a good sales guy. I saw you eyeballing the Diavel."

"Not sure, just looking right now. I need to figure out where I'm going to put it, before I get one and all that. The Diavel's nice, but a little more than what I was looking for.
