Remi

I couldn’t let her go.

All it took was one week.

Seven whole days of having her at my place, seeing her every night, and watching her face light up when I walked into the room. After having that, I couldn’t give it up.

I couldn’t give her up.

Kaia and I might not have spent every waking moment together, but the time that we did have together was some of the best.

At least once a day, Kaia made me laugh. More than a couple times a day, she smiled at me in a way that I felt in my gut. And every night that we curled up on the couch together after having dinner together, she did it wearing short cotton shorts and tiny tops that I felt in my cock.

And now she wanted to leave?

She wanted to take all of that away from me?

No.

No way could I allow that to happen without at least letting her know how she made me feel.

I knew it was risky. I wasn’t sure if she was ready for it, but I had to take my shot. Not only was I terrified of no longer feeling every day the way I felt over the last week, but I was also worried about her leaving.

While I understood her need to believe that everything with her ex was as good as over now that she had the temporary restraining order, I wasn’t convinced. I didn’t know the guy at all, but I’d met a ton of people like him over the years. If he was anything like the rest, he wasn’t through with Kaia. He wasn’t just going to walk away without another word. Someone like him didn’t think the rules applied to him. So, even though Kaia saw that order as a deterrent, I wasn’t convinced this guy did. If he wanted to come after her, a piece of paper wasn’t going to stop him, even if it meant he’d face criminal charges or jail time. All too often, people like him thought they’d be able to get away with it. Some did. But I’d be damned if I let him get to her.

I knew it from the moment she first walked into Archer Tactical. The feeling was only solidified when I learned the reality of her situation.

Kaia was mine. Everything I’d spent my entire career training for had brought me to this moment. I’d do anything to protect her.

That’s why there really was no other option in my mind. I was going to go for it, hope for the best, and cross my fingers that I could change her mind. This was my first choice and last resort to convince her to stay.

Luckily, and much to my surprise, it only took Kaia a moment to realize what was happening, give into my kiss, part her mouth, and let me taste her.

It was far better than I could have ever imagined. And that was saying something considering how much imagining I’d done since I first met her.

Her kiss left me feeling excited and hopeful that what was ahead for us would be just as phenomenal.
