2. Colonel William Fitzhugh (1651–1701) was the founder of Eagle’s Nest, home to fourteen generations of the Fitzhugh-Grymes clan in King George County, Virginia. In his day, he was one the wealthiest men in Virginia. When he died at age fifty, he left his heirs over fifty-four thousand acres of land. He is Benjamin Grymes’s third maternal grandfather.
