CHAPTER ELEVEN
Kat
I didnât hear from Blake at all the day before. I knew we were being casual, but I was hoping for a text or something. Maybe a, âThanks for the nice time in the ladiesâ room.â I couldnât stop thinking about him, and it pissed me off that I even cared that he hadnât contacted me.
I headed into work, and Blake was already in the garage working. I didnât go greet him like I usually would. I just went to the front and got started on my work. I had made a lot of progress on the shop so far. I had all the needed records scanned into the computer and got rid of the rest. Everything seemed so much less cluttered.
I had convinced Gary to let me paint the reception area and give it a face-lift. I was going to get started as soon as the shop closed today. I picked out a gunmetal grey color. It was going to look badass with the rest of the decorations I had bought for the area. Gary didnât know about those yet; I had been hiding them at my house. He was going to kill me over cherry-red leather chairs and a silver desk that I had bought.
I got busy with my work, and before I knew it, it was lunchtime. I headed into the break area, and all the guys were sitting at the table eating. Well, thanks for waiting for me. There was an open seat next to Blake and another next to Cash. I chose the seat next to Cash. I knew I was being childish, but Blake was affecting me more than I liked to admit.
I was becoming more attached to him than he was to me, and I needed to put some distance between us. I didnât need him thinking I was some clingy girl, because I wasnât. I wasnât this girl. I was independent and sassy. I had never relied on a man or his attention.
I could feel him looking at me while I sat there talking to Cash. I avoided his gaze at first, but then I realized that was probably making the situation worse. I turned and looked at him casuallyâat least I hoped that was how it lookedâand his gaze met mine. I could tell he was angry, but I wasnât sure why. I hadnât done anything wrong. Was he mad that I sat next to Cash instead of him?
Of course he didnât care who I was talking to. I gave him a small smile, but he didnât return it. He narrowed his eyes at me. The angry, brooding look he was giving me turned me on. The thought that he might actually care enough to be mad started a tightening low in my belly.
Cash started talking again, so I pulled my attention away from the sexy-as-sin expression on Blakeâs face and replied to Cash. A chair scooted harshly against the floor. Blake slammed the remainder of his food into the trashcan and walked out of the break room.
