Manitou Springs was extremely grateful that both Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs City Public Works employees acted quickly and worked together as a united team to mitigate the potential of worse damage that could have been caused by the rushing waters.

Many trucks hauled dirt here to build the earth berms. Heavy equipment arrived from both cities to build the earth berms and remove or relocate large rocks, logs and branches before they could cause more damage to buildings and property in the path of the flood.

In the below picture of Cañon Avenue you can see some of the types of debris that were left behind when the flooding began to subside.
