Her Forbidden Fruit
Chapter Eight: Sea Glass
âHarper⦠Hey, Harper,â Celia whispered.
âMmm,â Harper stirred. She rolled over in the bed, not wanting to get out yet.
âWhat time is it?â Celia asked.
âLook at your phone,â Harper whispered.
âI canât,â Celia said blandly.
âOh,â Harper said, springing up in bed. Sheâd forgotten that sheâd tied Celiaâs hands behind her back. âSorry,â she said.
Harper first rolled over to check her phone, which had a dozen missed messages from Danielle. At first they were happy, queries about Harper and Celiaâs whereabouts. But as the hours stretched on, Danielle became angry and impatient. Sheâd realized that Celia and Harper were together and had eventually told Harper to screw off, explaining that she was going off to the city to watch live music.
âWell Danielleâs pissed,â Harper mumbled.
âWhat?â Celia said. âFor the love of God, could you untie me already?â
Harper chuckled and flipped Celia onto her stomach, untying her wrists.
âThank you,â Celia said breathlessly. âNow what were you saying? Where isââ
But she was cut off by Harper kissing her ferociously on the lips.
âShe said she went downtown to see live music. Weâve got the house to ourselves. I think most of the guests went with her.â
âThis isnât good,â Celia groaned.
âWhy not?â Harper asked. âItâs not like you two are dating.â
âI know,â Celia admitted. âBut weâre still good friends. And Iâve clearly hurt her. Now what do I do?â
âIâm not sure,â Harper said, looking slightly awestruck. She was hurt by the fact that Celia was still pining over Danielle, especially after all the courting. Sheâd been trying to seduce Celia for the past forty-eight hours. Theyâd finally made love, wasted the evening together. Was it time to return to reality already?
âWhy donât we meet them at the restaurant?â Harper asked, suddenly having a change of heart. She knew it would piss off Danielle if she arrived with Celia on her arm. It would also convince Celia that things were going to be okay, that maybe she had a chance with Danielle after all. Harper was once again up to her old tricks, which involved weaseling her way between couples until they tore themselves apart with jealousy and accusations. It was her expertise, and this wasnât the first couple Harper had ruined.
The last time sheâd become addicted to another couple was when she was about to graduate college. There had been a boy and girl sheâd been close friends withâJohn and Katherine. Theyâd been going steady throughout high school, and were heavily in love with one another. Of course Harper had to put a stop to that. Sheâd been jealous of the way John gave Katherine attention, and wanted the girl all to herself.
Katherine was skinny as a pin with cascading blonde hair and light brown eyes. The second Harper saw her she knew Katherine would be her conquest. She tried for weeks to get some sort of a hint about Katherineâs sexuality, flirting with her and touching her arm every so often. Katherine always seemed disinterested in Harperâs advances. Little did Harper know, Katherine had been attracted to her the entire time.
