A few minutes later, Carrie left, and I checked on the babies who were still sound asleep. I expected that they would need a bath once they woke up, so I got their clothes and towels ready when Bruce walked in. I sent him a small smile, and he nodded out the door.

It was a silent sign to talk outside.

We walked out of the room and I left the door open a crack. We strolled into the living room, where he turned to me.

“What's up?”

“Liam is here,” he responded quickly.

I gulped. That was not what I was expecting to hear.

“Okay?”

“He's out back. He said he's not leaving until he gets to talk to you.”

I figured at some point that Liam would try to call me. I didn't think he would just show up.

“I know it doesn't make much of a difference right now, but I know that man. I've known him for over ten years, and I know he cares about you. He cares about you enough that he nearly ran down that hall just to toss Xander off you.”

Oh. My. God.

Liam knew I had sex with Xander? Bruce knew it, too? This was mortifying.

I had to take what Bruce said into consideration. Bruce was usually a biased individual. He didn't get in other people's business. For him to say that he knew Liam cared about me was a big deal, and I knew that.

Was he right? Did Liam really care about me? If he did, I would feel like the lowest, most disgusting form of life on the planet. I slept with Xander, and Liam knew. He heard us.

Yeah, Liam and I needed to talk.

“I'll go talk to him, then.”

Bruce nodded and lightly patted my shoulder before walking away. “If you end up leaving, just let me or Sally know, okay?” Bruce didn't wait for my response. He walked down the hall and left me to my thoughts.

I knew the longer I waited, the harder this conversation would be, so I slowly strolled over to the sliding glass door that led to the porch and pushed it open. Liam was seated on a bench next to the door.

He looked so handsome. His light brown hair, that was a little long on the top, was pushed off to the side, casting a shadow over his left eye. He was wearing dark jeans, a turquoise T-shirt, and some generic tennis shoes.

He looked like the poster child for the boy next door. His expression was different, though. He looked relieved and irritated at the same time.

“Hi,” I mumbled nervously.

He just nodded.

“Bruce said you wanted to talk to me.”

His frustration was clear in the way his jaw clenched.

“I waited this long because I wanted us to talk without you saying something you'll regret. Now, I'm worried about doing that.”

Was he seriously playing the jealousy card?

“Why? Because I fucked Xander?”

He grimaced.

“I'm a biker girl. If I'm not fucking at least one biker, I've lost my usefulness to their club. We all know what happens to prostitutes who lose their value.
