“How did it go?” Sky asked as Kane walked back into the office.

“She pretty much confirmed our suspicions,” he replied. “and supplied a little intel which we didn’t know.”

“What’s that?”

“She said that the drugs are coming in from Canada. Through, The Den.”

“How?”

“Think about it. Troy was up there looking for that missing hunter. He found that trail coming down from the line. Then add the hoof prints to it and you get your answer.”

“They’re packing them in,” Sky observed.

“Yes.”

“There was a call for you while you were out.” Mary cut in.

“Who?” Kane asked.

“Al Burrows I think he said his name was. It sounded important.”

Kane walked over to his desk and picked up the phone handset. He punched in the number and a voice said, “Burrows.”

“It’s Kane.”

“Kane, did you get the email I sent you? The picture.”

“I haven’t had a chance to check.”

“Check now,” Burrows replied.

“I’ll have a look.”

While Kane clicked icons with his mouse Burrows kept talking. “It seems that all these guys were part of the same unit. And dead as well.”

Kane listened to his words, but the sheriff’s expression changed when the picture came up. “Fuck me.”

“Yeah right,” Burrows said.

“I gotta go, Al. Thanks for the picture. I owe you.”

Kane hung up without giving the man a chance to reply. Kane stood erect trying to make sure that he was seeing the picture properly. There were five men in it. All except one were the dead shooters at the morgue. The one remaining was Cash Travers.

“Sky, get over here.”

She rose slowly from her desk, a curious look on her face. She walked around beside Kane and stared at the screen. “Fuck me.”

“OK, that’s enough,” Mary snapped as she walked towards them. She continues around the desk and stood beside them “There’s nothing that warrants—fuck me.”
