Every organization is different and provides different services for members, and prospective members should take the time to determine which best fits their individual needs. An administrative medical assistant who plans to become the office manager of a practice might do better to join the Association for Healthcare Administrative Professionals, rather than a more broadly focused group. While researching professional organizations with intent to join, a person should consider not only his or her current position but the future work he or she would like to do.
