I WALKED INTO THAT Carter woman – her family may have changed their name from Cartwright, but I recognised some of Richard Ramsgill’s wife in her when I first saw her.

My mistake were to leave too soon.

She had written my story. She were close to birthing Ramsgill twins. I prepared to bring Allie and Charlie forward for the birth, and... and the damn fool woman tried to save the new Ramsgills!

She were weak. Her body were too weak. Too weak to sustain twins without me.

They died. My babbies’ second chance at life snatched away.

Then she dared to bear a child without me!

Where did that strength come from? How did she do that?

And then she bore a second. Well, I’ll leave her with that one, but I will have the girl. My Allie will have that girl, and Charlie will take the Wainwright brat, and keep ’em for themsens.
