We finish our meal and walk slowly back to the parking lot. The wine bar is almost empty now, just the last few customers spilling onto the street. He takes my hand, and we could be any couple strolling home after an evening out.

His car is the only one left in the parking lot, and he stops in front of it and takes both my hands in his.

“I had a wonderful time tonight.”

I can’t hide the smile on my face. “Me too.”

“Do you want to come back for coffee?” He asks me casually, but I know what that invitation means.

“Sure,” I say, then bite my lip, wondering if I sound too eager. “Where’s Tilda?”

“My neighbor’s looking after her. A lovely older lady who offered to help out anytime I needed it.”

I smile, wondering which of Mom’s cronies it is and what gossip they’ll bring back to the church group.

He leans toward me and softly presses his lips to mine. As soon as our lips touch, it’s like an explosion of electricity between us. What started as a gentle kiss becomes more and more passionate.

His hand slides around the back of my head, and his tongue explores my mouth. He pulls me toward him, and I feel the hardness through his jeans.

There’s a deep tug in my core and a wet surge between my legs. I rub against him, wanting to feel all of him.

His lips move down my neck, and I tilt my head back as he kisses the tender skin of my throat.

I let out a moan as his hand slides over my thighs and pulls at my skirt.

I’ve only just met him and we’re in a parking lot, but I’m ready to give myself to him.

Just then a car pulls urgently into the parking lot and blinding light hits my eyes.

He pulls his hand out from under my skirt as I lift my arm to shield my eyes. We move apart, but not before the occupants of the car would have gotten a good look.

The car turns around, the headlights moving out of my eyes. There’s a woman driving the car, and she’s peering at me in surprise. I gasp. “Oh no!”

“What is it?” asks Cole

“It’s Stacey. One of the moms from the daycare.”

The car turns around, and she looks over her shoulder to stare at me. I watch in dismay as she drives out of the parking lot. I’m totally busted.
