“Aye.” Iz shivered in Claire’s arms. “Where have I heard this disgrace before?”
Matt wavered, and reached across the table for his glass. The bottle beside it tipped, its contents bubbling onto the floor. He filled his glass with spilling champagne, then raised it toward the four of them.
“To the happy couples.” Matt’s voice, a mature grownup, albeit sloshed voice, boomed across the hall.
Claire nodded at her father. “We did all right with that kid.”
Their mother picked up her purse and rushed from behind the table. “I won’t stand for another second of this!”
