A great pitch is fact based rather than hyped. Simply put don't try and convince the buyer the product is something it is not. You need hard evidence what you're saying is correct. You then need to convey that information in a dynamic and convincing way.
Your pitch should make doing business with you fun, positive and appealing.
You will enhance your chances of success with your pitch if you pay attention to a few other suggestions:
Always dress for success. Show that you're serious and respect your buyer by dressing professionally.
Although you've got a lot to say, listen actively. Draw on your buyer's experiences and suggestions.
Share the spotlight with the reps and distributors who will be doing all the follow-up work required.
Prep well – make sure your pitch is not undercut by a marked up prototype or by props whichdon't work.Do it right or don't do it at all.
Set some goals beforehand for what you hope to achieve. Realize you probably won't get a multi-million-dollar contract with a large national chain right away so be prepared to start small with a pilot and work up.
Do everything you can to send the signals: You have a brand-new product consumers love.
This is something exciting.
You will be easy to work with.
You will be thorough and quick.
That you will follow through on what you say.
