POINTS TO NOTE: Cairns Airport has regular flights direct from most state capitals, and long-distance buses connect Cairns with Brisbane and all major stops in between. Queensland Rail (www.queenslandrailtravel.com.au) runs a service five times a week between Brisbane and Cairns.
