“She’s over there.” Beth points to Ella as she casually takes a sip of her cocktail.

From across the nightclub, I spot Ella, full of liquid spirit, sandwiched between two guys, both grinding front and back on the dance floor. If they so much as put a hand on her, I’ll fucking lose it.

“What the fuck is she playing at?” I yell over the thumping music of The Vault as my blood boils.

Managed by my old high school buddy, Beth’s brother, Roman, The Vault is the only nightclub in town, and as always, it’s jumping.

Formerly an old bank, they have converted the old teller booths into a fifty-foot-long bar along one side of the club. Gold and black interior throughout, it’s a sparkling metallic extravaganza of light and shade. The entire back wall behind the deejay booth sparkles with recessed lighting, making it look like one giant velvet button-back sofa.

“She’s been on a mission since we arrived, and now she’s out of control. She said she wanted to forget about everything tonight,” Beth explains.

I know how she feels.

“Hence the reason I called you,” Beth confirms.

As I watch, Ella trails her hands up her waist, over her glorious tits, and splays her hands through her hair, all the while weaving her hips from side to side.

The glowing spotlight shining above her lights her platinum-white hair up like a halo. She’s my angel.

My muscles tighten as the guy to her front suddenly grabs her hip into his and starts grinding against her.

“Fuck this.”

“Go give ’em hell.” Beth laughs from behind me.

Winding my way through the thick sea of dancers, I eventually reach Ella and her two new sleazy dance partners.

“Excuse me, mate,” I say to the guy positioned at her front. Eyes closed, lost in the music and one hundred percent three sheets to wind on cocktails, Ella hasn’t noticed me.

Flattening my arm out to place a barrier between him and Ella, I say, “Do you mind taking your hands off my girlfriend?”

The guy behind pops his head up, spotting me instantly. Callum.

Shit.

“Girlfriend? The last time I checked, you were fucking married, Fraser Farmer.” He punctuates my name with a snarl.

Aw hell. I don’t want to cause a scene.

“Fray-zurr?” Ella slurs, responding to Callum, calling my name. She giggles. “Come join us.” She flaps her wrist about, beckoning me to her.

She really is stupidly drunk, barely able to hold her head up as it rolls about.

“I don’t want any trouble,” I try reasoning with Callum. “But I’m taking Ella home now.”

“The fuck you are. She’s staying here with me.” Callum curls his lips, smirking, then snakes his arm around her waist.

I flex my fingers, then draw them into fists. “Let go of her or I won’t be held responsible for what I do next.”

Callum, full of liquid courage, shouts back, “I don’t think so.” He shakes his head cockily. “You are married. Ella is not with you. She is certainly not your girlfriend.”

“Frayzurrrr has a wife. A wife whooze not a wife.” She laughs uncontrollably.
