I focused on Jesus’ actions and teachings in contrast to the stories my coworkers had shared—stories of villages burned to the ground because they’d refused to convert, to embrace the Prophet of Islam and his religion. I considered my own beliefs of what is good and right. Once again my faith in Jesus was strengthened, not because I saw Him as a powerful, not-to-be-rejected leader, but because I saw Him as patient and good. I thought, “I would rather be like Jesus.” I admired Him all over again.
