“Where to?” Sage asks as soon as we slip into the car.

We docked a couple of minutes ago and had to wipe down the boat before we left it. I have a feeling that the cops will be looking for it soon.

“We need to get out of town. The house is burned and if Boker talks, they’ll be looking for us,” I say as I slip onto August’s lap.

Ryder reaches over and plucks me off his lap, settling me on his instead. I notice Sage and Tristan raise their eyebrows at his movement but Finch who is sitting next to us doesn’t seem fazed at all.

“We can go to my place,” Finch says and Sage starts the car as he rattles off his address.

It’s not far and everyone tries to keep a low profile as we make our way across town. If we get pulled over now for having too many people in the car or for speeding then we would be screwed.

Finch’s place is nice. It’s not as flashy as Boker’s mansion but it’s obvious that he’s done well for himself. I wonder who else he works for. No way Ryder pays him enough to afford this place.

It’s a one-story sprawling beach house located on a quiet stretch of beach. It’s far enough from the usual tourist haunts that it’s private but also in a spot close to the airport and marina. This is the house that I would pick if I was going to stay in one spot for long. Pretty, big, with lots of escape routes.

We park in the garage and file after Finch inside. The inside is bright and airy with miles of white floors and walls. One whole side of the house seems to be made of windows. I’m assuming they overlook the beach but it’s too dark to see much of anything outside.

Finch shuts off the security system and I watch, memorizing the code just in case I need it. That’s always been a hobby of mine. I memorize all of the numbers that I can get because you never know when you’re going to need them.

Finch flips on a few lights and I head into the living room, sinking down onto the deep leather sectional. Sage wanders over to Finch’s office and I watch as he follows her through and they start talking about computers. I dig her laptop out of her backpack and fire it up, booking us plane tickets out of the country. I’m just about to book mine when Ryder sits down next to me.

“You’re running?” He asks quietly and I spare him a glance as I continue to type away on the keyboard.

“We’re leaving. We’ll find a new town, a new job.”

“Is that what you really want? To keep moving? To keep doing these kinds of jobs?” He asks and I pause.

The answer is yes. I love what I do. I know that some people just see me as a criminal but I steal and lie to help people. The world is filled with wolves.
