Caching with the Repository Pattern

What Is It?

A cache is a place to put data that can be later be retrieved quickly. A typical use case would be to cache the result of a database query and store it in memory (RAM). This allows us to retrieve the result of the query much quicker the next time we need it - we save a trip to the database and the time it takes for the database to process the query. Because the data is stored in memory, it is extremely fast.

While a database is a persistent data store, a cache is a temporary data storage. By design, cached data cannot be counted on to be present.
