Ferland came out of the Richardson Police Department building as Laporte approached it.

“Good afternoon, Detective,” the lawyer said to Ferland. “Do you have a few moments?”

“Yes.” Ferland stopped.

Laporte gave the detective Brian Harbour’s photograph and a sheet of paper with his name, address, and phone number, and said, “This is Brian Harbour. He used to work at Mr. Lochner’s branch. My client fired him for sexual harassment a year ago. We believe he framed Mr. Lochner for his wife’s murder to get even with him.”

Ferland put the photograph and the sheet of paper in his pocket. “Thanks for the information. Have a nice day,” he said, and started walking.

“He called in sick on the day of Tamara Lochner’s murder,” Laporte said, following the detective. “You need to look into him.”

“Have a nice day.”
