A friend of mine is slightly on the plumper side. He is often unable to walk more than a few metres at one go. He has to rest a few minutes every few steps. I told him once that he could run the fastest if it was a matter of survival. Of course, he refused to believe me.

I could have never imagined him to run as fast as he ran that day. Within minutes he covered nearly a hundred metres. I caught up with him, a long while later. I was gasping and wondering where in heavens he got such strength and speed. He stopped, looked behind and pointed “Did you notice the three mad dogs after us?”

I was amazed at his strong survival instinct. I pondered over the the inherent powers that every living beings possess.

Metabolism of the human body is triggered for activity with chemicals, enzymes and adrenalin being produced to respond to this rather desperate situation. We all know about these capabilities, but hardly bother to push ourselves to seek our true self. We may not realize this now, but these very qualities in us will stand us in good stead in the long run.

If you had someone telling you at gunpoint, “You are going to get killed right now if you don’t improve your profitability or increase your turnover by 35%.” I’m sure you will work day and night but ensure that you achieve both targets. That is because you value ‘life’ more than anything else. The question is why to wait for someone to point a gun in the first place? If you can imagine or create a similar situation hypothetically, it will still have the same effect or result. Then you would realize your own potential. You will change the result with a simple change in your attitude towards the same thing. This change of attitude or technique awakens the giant asleep in your subconscious mind.
