…I can’t blame them for that. Instructor Don was their boss. There was no merit in disobeying a direct order to defend someone they had never met. Now I’m at a disadvantage, though… As terrible a person as Don Golurg was, he was an instructor here. Neither of us had proof beyond our testimony, and the branch manager would surely believe his subordinate over me.

What should I do…? I searched my brains for a way out of this situation.

“H-he’s lying! Instructor Don is the one who wrecked this room!” a holy knight yelled loudly.

“Y-yeah, I saw it, too! The instructor lost his mind and laid waste to the training hall!”

“It’s all Instructor Don’s fault, Mr. Clown!”

The first holy knight to speak out had spurred others to reveal the truth as well.

“Y-you goddamn snakes…!” Instructor Don glared at the holy knights.

“Don, is this true?” Clown asked dispassionately. His expression was unreadable.

“Y-yes…it’s true. But I didn’t have a choice! This brat spoke back to me!”

“I see. By the way…is that bottle yours?”

“Hmm…? Yeah, why do you ask?

“Drinking on the job is forbidden per the Holy Knight Rules of Employment. I assume you’re aware of that?”

The Holy Knight Rules of Employment provided employee guidelines for all holy knights around the world.

“Ha, what do I care about those stupid stipulations?! Do you realize how many decades I’ve been working here as an instructor? My rules are all that matter here! That’s always been the case—ask all the previous branch managers!” Instructor Don ranted.

Clown shrugged. “Hmm… Understood. Don Golurg, you are fired—effective immediately.”

“What did you say…?”

“I will send a notice of your dismissal to your home. Thank you for your extended service.”

Clown removed his hat and bowed, then walked past Instructor Don as if he had nothing more to say.

“You think you can fire me one week after transferring here… I’ll put you in your place! Sand Blast!”

The enraged instructor swung his broken Soul Attire and sent over twenty sand blades at Clown.

“Look out, Mr. Clown!” a holy knight yelled.

“…You really are thickheaded. Can’t you tell how much stronger I am than you?” Clown said.

The sand swords crumbled, as if they’d hit an invisible wall. That wasn’t all.

“Wh-what the hell?!” The instructor crouched as if he had been forced down to the floor. “Ngh… Ooooooooooh!” He looked like he was struggling desperately to get up, but he couldn’t even lift a finger. A powerful force seemed to be keeping him down.

Is this gravity…? No, it’s not. This mysterious power was affecting only the instructor. The damaged floor around him would have been creaking if it had been gravity. The branch manager may look ridiculous, but he’s really strong…

Clown smiled casually despite the tension in the room. “You are interfering with the cleanup, Don. It’s about time you leave.” He released the man from the strange power. Instructor Don then glared at me.

“Goddammit… I’ll make you pay, Allen Rodol!” he yelled, running out of the training hall.

“H-huh…” For some reason, he was only angry with me. I clearly didn’t deserve it, but there was no point in complaining.
