Where the Wolf Lives

Hudson

Yazmin was giggling through his kisses. It was such an infectiously happy noise that he couldn’t help chuckling himself. Hudson had never had anyone who smiled at him like Yazmin did. He couldn’t fathom why she thought he was worthy of any of her smiles. He couldn’t even get a double entendre when she was naked underneath him, and he forgot to explain German, but if she wanted to be so foolish as to spend time with him, he would take advantage of that for as long as he possibly could. Not forever, of course, but as long as possible.

Her leg slid along his again, only going up this time. Not forever. Her heel dug into his ass, pressing him deeper into her hips. Just long enough to ride off into a few sunsets together. Her fingers slid up into his hair, pushing his ruff—no, it was hair, damn it, he was staying human—against its natural direction and making him shiver. A century or two. Not forever.

“Hudson,” she moaned. God, he loved how his name sounded on her lips.

“Princess,” he murmured, letting his lips trace along the curve of her neck. That produced another giggle, but quieter and more breathless. Then she gave a little moan. The sound was soft, sweet, and feminine and bypassed his brain, hitting him straight in every wolf instinct he had. He growled, low and heavy—barely in the range of human hearing. This one was his. She was what he wanted.

He lifted his head to kiss her, and she smiled and ran a cautious fingertip up his ear. Only when she touched it did he realize they were furry and pointy.

“Sorry,” he said, trying to push his wolf back inside.

She bit her lip and shook her head, her eyes twinkling. “Wolf,” she whispered. “Come out to play.”

“You don’t want that,” he said, shocked.

“I don’t?”

“You do?”

“I want you,” she said. “And the ears are kind of sexy.”

“It doesn’t… freak you out?” he asked uncertainly.

She looked like she was thinking that over, which was not reassuring, but on the other hand, it did mean that whatever she was about to say would be honest.

“Yes and no. I find the concept of shape-shifting to be most peculiar and could be a bit troublesome if I thought too hard on it. But you don’t freak me out. You’re just you.” He stared down at her in disbelief. “Your eyes have gone all yellow and wolfy. What does that mean?”

Most of his interactions with humans were fraught with the lies that all Supernaturals told or kept at the distance of a computer screen. He received a variety of compliments and offers and a vast amount of criticism from his videos. And if he took one side seriously, it would mean that he would have to take them both seriously, so he never believed any of them. The only people he had ever felt genuinely wanted him for who he was were his pack. Even his parents had always been disappointed by whatever he was.
