CHAPTER 49 –HUMILIATION-
Franco was so excited, Valun is still shocked with what he heard that he was just standing still and as if he froze to death, Raddak seems to have lost all his strength and slowly sat on the ground, Brugger and the others are on the verge of tears.
But Kumar, he remained so calm, which puzzles me, I know that he is good friends with us so I was expecting an objection from him, but he and the king were just watching Franco happily rummage a small storage room just beside the house and took a large hammer.
Franco was whistling as he walks towards us, he gave us a huge grin, then put the flask atop of a massive rock and mockingly looked at us and said “your deception ends now”, he then raised the giant hammer and smashed the fragile-looking flask.
At that last second Valun came to his senses, all those hardships that we endured came rushing back to him, all in his mind was he can’t let his friends down, he can’t let Gondar down, so he rushed towards Franco to stop him, but it was too late, the hammer already connected with the flask.
The force was too great, the impact even created a small sonic boom, it’s like a fighter jet reaching the speed of Mach one, the rock shattered and got split into small fragments, with the hammer buried in it, Franco was breathing heavily with the excitement but he managed to give us a triumphant smile.
Franco might be a jerk, a total jerk, but he is insanely strong, I give him that.
But as he removed the hammer buried from the rock, all his smile disappears, his jaw dropped in disbelief.
Lying along the rubbles is the flask, totally unscathed.
Franco picked up the flask with astonishment, in total disbelief, the king then took the flask from him and walk towards Valun, the king then proudly announced, “Gondar has now the right to join Ishbala!”
Brugger is literally crying now, he really thought that the king wants the flask destroyed, so is everyone else, but not Kumar, he is now smiling widely towards us, like saying you are all good now, there is really nothing really to worry about, he just wants to teach that jackass some manners and humility, maybe it’s what his smile is all about, or maybe is he just really happy.
Kumar even joined us on our way back to the circlets, he and Valun were just a little far behind us, they seem to be discussing something serious, I even saw Valun clenching his fist.
Everyone was beaming with joy as we head back to the village, Brugger and Andro were holding the flask like a trophy, the news of obtaining the paraya spread to the village like a bushfire.
Almost everyone was out on the street, cheering, who would not be proud? Obtaining the paraya is an extraordinary feat, we were the second people in the history of Maridinia to be able to get it, everyone is happy, except for Valun.
