Dr. Felix Wassermann, Christine, and Puss are long gone. In spite of my poor performance in French and, by his standards, my poor performance in the introduction to the humanities course, he was one of the top-notch teachers I was lucky to have. All of his physical antics in the classroom and elsewhere are not what I go back to the most often, more than sixty years later. It’s not the quirkiness but the intellectual depth of what is humanly possible that I cherish.
