I’m still floating on a cloud as I take an Uber back to the bar to get my car. Victor is long gone, probably assuming I went home with Elijah. If only he knew the truth.

By the time I’m home, I’m down from my cloud and dealing with facts. I slept with Chase. Looking at it logically, that was probably not the best idea, but I still can’t bring myself to regret it.

Sex with Chase was a revelation for me. I realize now that I’ve been fooling myself all these years. I was never straight. I could handle sex with women, but it never excited me in the way I now know sex can.

Finn and Noah are going to laugh themselves silly when they find out. To be fair, it is pretty funny, and I’ll probably be laughing with them. Our team must have the highest percentage of gay players for any professional ice hockey team. Maybe queer people just tend to gather together, whether they know they’re queer or not.

My ass is really starting to hurt, but there’s no bleeding, at least. Chase was careful with me and there doesn’t seem to be any tearing. I still took a pounding, though, and I have to admit that maybe Chase has a point about taking it easy in practice tomorrow.

If I pursue this with anyone else, I’ll need to make sure that I top before matches, or we go gently.

The thought of sex with someone other than Chase, even another hot guy, doesn’t do much for me. Chase is the one I want, but I can’t have him, and I need to keep reminding myself of that.

I’m so relaxed and blissed out from my mind-blowing orgasm that I don’t really want to do anything except go to bed, so I do exactly that.

I’m not entirely surprised that when I dream, I have steamy dreams about Chase and wake up to sticky sheets.

I’m self-conscious as I walk into practice the next day. I feel like everyone will know that I slept with Chase just by looking at me. Of course, that’s ridiculous, but it doesn’t stop me from keeping my gaze on the ground lest someone reads the truth in my eyes.

“What’s wrong with you?” Quin nudges my shoulder. “You’ve been acting weird since the last game.”

“Nothing.”

“Yeah, right. Spit it out, Pike.”

“I can’t.”

“Of course you can. You can tell us anything.”

I just shake my head. I don’t want to put anyone in the position of having to keep secrets for me. It wouldn’t be fair.

Of course, Victor knows me better than any of the others. The moment I’m changed, he grabs me by the arm and hauls me to the showers.

“Well?” He waggles his eyebrows at me. “How did it go with Elijah?”

“It… Well, it didn’t go very well.”

“Oh, really? Then where did you disappear to?”

“I…”

“Come on, Pike. You can keep secrets from the rest of team—not advisable, but you can do it—but you and me? No way. Out with it.”

“I slept with Chase,” I blurt out.
