Chapter Twenty-Nine

Jen

Jen rolled up onto her knees and moved a little closer to Luke. Part of him was a stranger to her, but she was drawn to the man she had known. She craved him.

“Jen,” he growled.

“Luke,” she urged, moving closer yet.

“I can’t touch you.”

“Why?”

“I’ll never stop.”

“I don’t want you to. I’ve missed you so much.”

Her eyes went to his hands. The dream she had resurfaced, and she wanted to feel his calloused hands on her skin. Most people weren’t given a second chance at life. Jen wasn’t prepared to squander Luke’s.

“Look at you; you’re perfection. God, I crave your softness.”

When she was finally situated next to him, she felt him tense. His hands flexed as he gripped his jeans. She took him in. He looked the same, but he was somehow bigger both in presence and build. His muscles were thick chords on his forearms; Jen itched to reach over to touch them. She had always loved to trace his tattoos.

“I want to show you something,” she murmured.

Before she could talk herself out of it, Jen stood up and put her back to him, lifting her shirt over her head. Luke sucked in a sharp breath, followed by the fluttering touch of his fingers grazing over the tattoo on her back, the one that replicated the compass on his hand.
