ForesightâGaining a Perspective With Purpose
Not only did God give Moses a vision for the tabernacle that he and the Israelites were to build, but He also gave him an exact pattern and a step-by-step process. In Exodus 25, God began revealing the pattern and instructions to Moses for the final piece of furniture within the tabernacle: the ark of the covenant. The ark was symbolic of the humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ, and it was covered by the mercy seat, which represented holiness and atonement and was the place where the glory of God descended and remained. Weâll discuss the ark in our discussion of the holy of holies in Chapter 7, but for now it is important to note that God told Moses to start building with His goals in mind, so that everything else that Moses built would be constructed with the ark of the covenant and with the mercy seat in the forefront of his thoughts.
Why did God tell Moses to build the last piece of furniture first? Iâm so glad that you asked. God always shares a vision by revealing the final product and then walks His chosen vessels through the rest of the process. God doesnât just want us to blindly follow His instructions. He has called us His friends, sons and daughters, kings and priests, and He wants us to know and to walk in His purposes. True faith is not just blindly following God; it is seeking His face and trusting that God will do what He has said that He will do, even when circumstances and situations may dictate otherwise. In Isaiah 46:10, God said, âI make known the end from the beginningâ¦what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.â God always declares the end of a thing prior to its beginning, and He reveals that end to those who love Him and will pursue Him.
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn⦠(Psalm 37:4-6).
So many of us are willing to settle for so much less than the life God wants for us and that we want for ourselves. We have given up on the idea of being truly happy, pursuing our dreams, and having the type of loving relationship and family that we have always wanted. God knows the plans He has for us, to prosper us, to let us see no harm, to give us hope, a future, and an expected end (see Jer. 29:11). Do you have a vision, a dream, a goal for your future and relationships? Do you have faith to believe that God is able to give you the desires of your heart? If you donât know what you desire, how can God bless you with it? How will you know that man, or
